Default Social Scene between Arizona and Washington State

I'm in my early twenties and I'm looking to move to either Arizona or Washington. I wonder which place would be better for finding people (dating, meeting new people). In Arizona, I'm eyeing the central and northern areas of the state (Sedona, Flagstaff). In Washinton, I'm eyeing the Seattle metropolitan area and the Olympic Peninsula. Which place would you say is less desolate and you're more likely to meet nice, friendly, new people?

Good question. Seattle, (the city, not the metro) has an excellent social scene, if by that you mean clubs, bars, etc.

Arizona also offer such, but probably spread out more throughout the metro in Phoenix. Not sure about Tucson. But Flagstaff and other northern communities probably not so much, as they are quite small in comparison.

I'm no expert though. I frequented these places in my 20's, not so much anymore. Perhaps someone in their 20's should offer an opinion here.

If you're comparing the Seattle metro with central and northern AZ as far as social scene then I'd say Seattle because the northern part of AZ is small towns and wilderness. You're going to keep running into the same people in Sedona and Flagstaff, they're just not that big.
In my twenties I would've rather had been in Phoenix than Northern AZ, though I don't think I'd be happy in rain city at any age.

I couldn't imagine being a single person in my 20s living in Sedona ..... I imagine it would be somewhat isolating

Flagstaff you at least have the university there - but again, it's a much smaller metro area and it isn't nearly as transient as the rest of the state ..... you are more apt to run into legacy cliques and things of that nature than you would in the phoenix metro

Seattle has a reputation for having a "freeze" - but there are still tons of great neighborhoods that would be fun for someone in their early 20s ...... just more people, with a wider variety of interests, resources, etc

All things being equal, if I were to choose it solely based on social considerations I would choose seattle metro in an instant over northern az

I think the question you have to ponder is what you prefer... if you like Celine and coffeehouses, Seattle is certainly a better bet. If you're partial to sitting behind a swimming pool watching Diamondbacks games, move to Phoenix. It's a matter of what culture - and weather - you want.

Phoenix isn't even a part of the equation

for AZ he's looking more at Sedona/Flagstaff

In that case, he'll definitely want to go with Seattle, unless he likes cowboy boots, horseback riding, and finding available women few and far between. Sorry if I misread his question.

Do we also get an apology for your generalizations?

Celine? Seattle? Not sure where that comes from. Celine Dion actually does most of her concerts not far from Arizona, in a place called Las Vegas. Seattle is and has been an alternative rock town, (remember Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc)? Celine Dion as a Seattle like is a bit out there, IMO.
