Are there any states you really don't know a lot about that you find yourself getting mixed up with each other? I thought it would be interesting and maybe kind of amusing to take a look at our misconceptions and maybe get some input from people who really know.

My mix-ups are:

Alabama with Arkansas (both start with "A" and both are in the South, so they have to be just alike, huh?)

Minnesota with Montana (same general reasoning as above)

Sometimes I forget what's in North Dakota and what's in South Dakota and confuse the location of a city or place between the two... But I can remember that South Dakota is the one with Deadwood, the Black Hills, and Mount Rushmore and North Dakota is the one with Fargo, Bismarck, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

North and South Dakota for sure.

Minneosta and Montanta?! That seem like an odd one to mix up.

Not any more. I used to be a bit confused about Minnesota and Wisconsin. When I was learning all the states, those are the two I remember getting confused about which was which.

It probably does to people who have visited them or lived in them, but to me, they're pretty much just names. I do know that Minnesota is quite a bit more heavily populated than Montana, but the names sound similar, they're both fairly good size (area-wise) and they both are on the U.S.-Canadian border.

They really aren't teaching geography in the schools anymore, are they.

New Hampshire says, "hello."

I am amazed how often I tell people I am from Seattle and they think it's near DC.
