Athletics stadia have horrible sightlines for other events, like football or soccer, and often end up as white elephants. Nobody wants to build them.

Yankee Stadium or Citi field could host and athletics. The stadium would probably look very ugly and weird but it could happen. Metlife Stadium could also hold track. It would be 15 years old and could be time for renovations anyway.

I disagree. America shouldn't spend billions of dollars on an olympic plan that would mean starting from the ground up. New York, Chicago, Dallas all have multiple venues that are already built and could be used to host the olympics. Vegas doesn't. I doubt America will spend so much money when there are other plans that could save millions. Also, Vegas is way to hot.

The olympics will not be in Detroit for a very long time. It's a depressing ghost town

There would have to be massive renovations to either stadium in order to host the athletic events. Renovations that would render them useless for the entire baseball season. I doubt you would see the Mets and Yankees sharing a stadium for an entire season without putting up a BIG fuss.

Look at what they did in Atlanta. It was one of the worst Olympic stadiums.

Met Life Could not fit a track inside of it without destroying the lower bowl and that would significantly cut capacity. They would need to add thousands of extra seats which would not be feasible.

I've been on tours of Metlife Stadium. I talked with some of the designers. It's actually much more simpler than it seems.

anyway my point of the faulty thinking by the USOC is best summed up in this quote:

“It’s my first time in an Olympic city,” said Evan Lee, who came from Hawaii to see her sister compete in the volleyball tournament for Team USA.
“I thought London was going to be busier. The Olympic Park is busy, but other than that, it is quiet.”

Houston was considering converting the Astrodome into a Track and field venue. Its just sitting there unused. and the switch to T&F would cost the city 98M, while demolition would cost the city 150M. Hosting the Olympics would save the city 52M and instead of a massive parking lot the city would end up with a revived venue
