I think alot of people rank cities on there city centers thats what shows up in photographs when people look at cities. And Seattles city center is much larger than Minneapolis. Seattle has 45 million square ft of offfice space in its city center. Minneapolis has 28 million in its city center. Minneapolis has 6,000 + hotel rooms in its city center . Seattle has 13,000+ in its city center . And Seattle has a larger city center population with 60,000 people living downtown . And another 7,000 residents currently under construction in its city center. Downtown Seattle has Icons that draw people Like Space Needle , Pike Place Market, And the new Seattle big Wheel on the waterfront puts Seattle in the spotlight . And the fact is Seattle G.D.P is larger than Minneapolis , Seattle has 254 billion and Minneapolis has 207 billion and there metro is close in size.

Thanks for the stats. Minneapolis has St. Paul too, so that may be a reason the downtown numbers seem a little off for a 3M+ metro.

Let's not forget that when we are ranking the whole Minneapolis metro and comapring it to its office sPace we aren't including the core of St. Paul.
Well, in that sense, Minneapolis St. Paul has Bloomington too, which also has a large mount of office space. Tacoma is smaller than St. Paul, and Bellevue is for the most part residential and hotel.

Yes... 15 years ago. Bellevue DT core is now the 2nd most urban area in WA, after Seattle and has a strong MS presence. It has grown a lot in the last 10 years and is much more effectively/efficiently run than Seattle. And still growing as well.

Actually I mentioned downtown bellevue because it has the close to the same amount of office space downtown as ST Paul. And its just on the other side of the lake from Seattle.

Wow! No wonder Seattle is in such high regard -- it's that extra 15 million SF of office space in Bellevue and the existence of Microsoft and Amazon that make it so superior!!
What's funny is how highly you guys all think of yourselves in respect to Minneapolis or any other city for that matter....there's so much "smug" in that town that if it rained 409 you couldn't scrub it clean!

Wow you ok someone mentioned St Paul and I said Seattle has Bellevue because its downtown is about same size as St Paul we should keep feelings out of this and stick to facts if were going to rank cities.
