Does that also apply to DC's Chinatown?

Fair enough, but at the same time Boston has quite a few ped-only walkways not only in Chinatown, but throughout the city.

I do think Boston's blocks are shorter, but it's tough to say because my perception is based on the overall walking experience. I don't think you would really notice a difference because you'd be walking past stores the whole time. And 7th Street sees a lot of pedestrian traffic, which enhances the pedestrian experience. One really doesn't feel more walkable than the other, imo.
True...I'm not saying DC isn't a pedestrian-friendly city by any means (though as lrfox mentioned before, I prefer the areas outside of downtown). There are several walkable areas even within the massive downtown, but there are also pretty large spots which are dead after 5pm. Overall, my point is that I believe Boston is more walkable and more engaging from a pedestrian perspective, in part due to the tight streets and smaller blocks.

It's a 180 from LA Live. Basically it's a corner that has some video screens. Nothing more!

tmac, you should do a week long self imposed exile from the board for posting erroneous information. Super Block in Chinatown DC. Really? It takes literally two minutes to walk from corner to corner in any direction from the pic you posted.

They're pretty much one in the same.

Well in all fairness, this was the area which popped up when I typed in "Chinatown, Washington DC". If that was indeed Chinatown, I think you could argue that there are some very large blocks there...upon exploring the area a bit more, I saw it was a bit better up in the area around the Chinatown gate, which is why I changed it to say "considerably larger than Boston's blocks", which I would say in many cases, it is.

It's funny because they have almost all of the same crappy chains... Regal Cinemas, Lucky Strike. At least in DC it is across the street from some beautiful buildings and not parking lots.

Boston: 29.2% of the workforce, 595,420 total jobs.

So apparently, while DC has more office space...Boston has nearly 125,000 more workers in a 3 mile radius. Interesting.
You might want to subtract Cambridge which is across the river from that.

It's about to be home to some of the best retail stores and upscale restaurants in the region. City Center is a block from Gallery Place.

I kinda get the sense that not everyone has the same enthusiasm about 10 LED screens, Fuddrucker's and Uniqlo (possibly coming) as you do.
