I have been to Phily before and it feels real dense and urban. I would say its 5th behind NYC, LA, San Francisco, and Chicago.

Also have been to Boston which is an overrated city in this discussion. The density of San Francisco and Phily blow Boston away and smash it to smithereens. Quote me on it, SMITHEREENS.

I think Philly is and feels more urban and dense than LA... LA never felt really dense to me and very un-urban in a lot of sections. Agree on the rest though.

Well seeing as how San Francisco's community college might get slated for closure due to inefficiency, Philly might have a leg up in education. Throw in the reality that California's k-12 is worse than PA's and Philly has Wharton and it's over.

Blah Blah Blah.

SF is so appealing to Wharton that they have a campus in SF, and SFs best K-12s stomp all over Philadelphia's best K-12s.

Next.

are you certain on that?

On the whole though the public (inner city meaning city of Philadelphia) school system has many issues; the burbs and magnet schools are tremendous

Masterman and Penn Charter (within the city limits, not to mention one of the best perfoming arts high schools, probably #2 after NYC) are among the best public schools in the country. If you go to private schools Philly and the are also have some of the best in the country, as do SF. Both these areas are among the best in the country though overall in education

In your opinion.

No, the San Francisco area is among the best, the Phily area does not place.

Huh.... that's funny. Because in this graph of best educated states in the U.S.... Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland all rank higher than California... in fact, California is down near the bottom of the list..

STOMPED!

In fact here's another one... where California received an overall grade of C

Delaware received a C+
Maryland a B+
New Jersey a B-
and Pennsylvania a B-

Another map shows PA,MD, and DE in the middle states while NJ is in the top 10 states for education...where is California? In the bottom 10...

Who's On Top? Color-Coded Maps Rank States' Education Performance - Education - GOOD

STOMPED!

See how stupid this argument is? IDK what's up with your lists but I know NJ has some of the best schools in the US and some of the schools in Bucks County, Montgomery County and Chester County, PA are some of the best in the US and the list names Masterman? LOL! Masterman is good but there are far better schools in the Philly metro than Masterman.

In fact... this list from 2009 ranking Philly area schools has 7 school listed before Masterman

Philadelphia Magazine

So... whoever did those lists you posted must have not done their research...or they just didn't include any of the suburban schools surrounding Philly.

I don't know Summers but I am pretty sure that San Francisco and the bay don't include all of California. Isn't this a comparison of San Francisco and the bay vs Phily and Delaware valley?

LOL you must realize that you're citing states not cities, not metros, not even high schools lol. This is San Francisco vs Phily, as in the bay vs Delaware valley. So what's all this state nonsense meant to prove?

No. The lists I posted are credible. The top high schools placed in that order all have selective enrollment, low to no drop out rates, perfect test scores from all students, and the ability of a student to move on to a acclaimed 4 year university.

Same people that make college lists. People who look at the quality of education these high schools produce and the bay has 7 in the top 100 on both lists and Phily's best chance is 2. Summers why don't you show me another recent list that shows the top 100 high schools in the US with Phily standing by San Francisco.

Sorry you're STOMPED
