Chinatown in San Francisco is a classic Asian icon within the US. If the strip is on the list then I see no reason why Chinatown cant be on it.

The Statue of Liberty is number one imo, after that I wouldn't rank them.

Monuments and Buildings:

The Empire State and Chrysler buildings
Golden Gate Bridge
Space Needle
Gateway Arch
White House, Capitol, Washington and Lincoln monuments
Hollywood Sign
Liberty Bell
Sears Tower
Mount Rushmore
Brooklyn Bridge too, and the new WTC when it's finished

Non Man-made:

Grand Canyon
Niagara Falls
The Rockies
Yellowstone
New England foliage is pretty popular
The Great Lakes

Places:

Disney World
Disney Land
New Orleans, French Quarter
Hollywood
Times Square
Harvard and Yale
The National Mall
Vegas Strip
Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard etc.
Miami Beach

Sorry BCD, worlds top ranked beach right now is in Sarasota. Worlds most famous beach is actually Waikiki in Honolulu.

Iconic things, I guess, are the ones that as soon as you see them, you know exactly where you are. They embody the place:

Times Square
Statue of Liberty
Empire State Building
Brooklyn Bridge

The Hollywood Sign

The Capitol Building
The White House
The Washington Monument

Mount Rushmore

Old Faithful Geyser

The Grand Canyon

The Strip in Las Vegas

The French Quarter in New Orleans
