I mean compared to Hawaii, Florida, even Puerto Rico this place is always ignored. I never see any real threads about it and its in the US. You don't need a passport to visit it, its exotic, and the culture there is just incredible?

Yes, if you are just talking about St. John. If you ask about St. Thomas or parts of St. Croix, no. St. Thomas, at least what of it I saw, has some magnificent natural scenery...but, the populated areas still have much seediness to them along with an astronomical violent crime rate. Hence, I can not say that St. Thomas is overrated, unless you stick to visiting it for a day on a cruise.

It is a great place! However, I don't think it is overrated at all. I think it is thought of a much more exclusive destination. There are no major cities there, like you see in Puerto Rico or Hawaii.

It is mostly just a small vacation/sailing getaway. San Juan and Honolulu are large cities with more going on.. beyond vacationing.
