1. You're talking about LA COUNTY not the City of Los Angeles. And the City of LA is no were near NYC's population.

2. NY is only the news capital. . . .

You base your opinion about a city on C-D postings? LOL
If anything New York has no reason to have a cheap on its shoulder: virtually uncontested king of the US, twice as big as the next, super dense, still growing, full of famous people and ultra-rich neighborhoods. Even the superiority complex you supposedly observed on C-D is artificial as in real life nobody questions New York City's superiority in virtually all areas of urbanity. Keep in mind that New York is often considered the top world city which means better then London, Paris, Rome which means it is in a totally different league than any other US city.
Having said all of that I don't live in New York but know it well enough to really love it.

Only places that have chips on their shoulders sometimes are adjacent smaller cities/towns and its towards the core city of the major metropolitan area.

NYC is . 10 million city strong. There is a marginal percentage of that 10M that visits C-D and then marginal of those that feel they have to defend the city. I don't.
New York is often considered the top world city, competing with London, Paris, Rome. Outside the peculiar crowd on C-D data do you think anyone cares what people in Nebraska or Illinois think about New York? do you think your opinions have any bearing on well being of New York City? Well think twice. As opposed to many other cities
New York is 10M big and still growing. As opposed to almost all other cities NYC's real estate price did not take a huge dive. Do you think that is because New Yorkers pay attention to all the envious chatter in the countryside? LOL. No. New York doesn't care, it simply goes forward, becomes bigger and better. You folks can just eat the dust. LOL.

Okay guys.

New York City proper according to the 2010 census:

8,175,133.

Good, now that that is all cleared up...

I have no beef whatsoever in regards to New York. Yeah, some New Yorkers may have superiority complexes and stuff but that isn't limited to New Yorkers. I never lived in NYC but having family in New England I have been there quite a few times. I enjoyed every time. I liked the different restaurant chains and grocery stores there compared to Los Angeles But that's about as close to any rivalry I ever felt. And yes, the Lakers are much better than the Knicks!

Have some of you been to New York? It's extremely provincial.
