I don't think New York has the best skyline right now,I think its Chicago, and I think it will continue to have the best skyline too, especially when The Chicago Spire is finished.Thats just my opinion though.

Chicago. NYC is larger and more impressive in terms of size. But Chicago is beautiful and still fricking huge.

Chicago, for now is #1 (in the US), but in 2011-12, no more. Not with the entire WTC complex, comprised of 3 supertalls,1 900 fter, and another 500-600 fter in a few blocks! with a few 500 - 700 fters surrounding the complex that are going up seperatly, also with the Bank of America, NYTT, and so many others that you can't mention, there are too many. Chicago, will be in #2 at that time, with the chicago spire, Trump tower, Waterview tower, Waldorf-Astoria, and too many to mention also. both skylines will be even more incredible than they already are! i completely Love both cities though!

I agree there. I love NYCs skyline for its size, its amazing, and will be even more so with the completion of the 'WTC complex'. Chicago has dozens in the works and several more proposals. Ive only seen 2 that I didnt like, the others were superb. Im a fan of the Spire and having now seen the interior layouts, Im even more intrigued. Its outrageously expensive though: studios start at $875,000 and penthouses at $40,000,000.

That new spire is a joke. It regresses Chicagos skyline, I can't believe they allowed that candy stick to tarnish a truly great skyline.

Manhattan will always have the best skyline in the USA imo.

Admittedly I am no geologist and have never been to New York -
and someone already brought up disasters - are there potential
issues with Manhattan and rising sea levels ?

On another note, where is the bast place to view New Yorks skyline ?
In Chicago I liked the view from Buckingham Fountain, or looking south
from beach off of Lincoln Park, and obviously from a boat.
