It shouldnt be a surprise considering how massive the other 2 regions are.
Im sorry the south is like 4x the land of the North East.

Yes, so it's way larger, has twice as many people and has a much larger economy.

That definitely qualifies as 'stronger' in my book.

So then why do you always post per-capita stats when comparing the Bay area to larger areas if more population and more economy are all that matters.

Your continual use of whatever metric fits your story best never ceases to amaze me, sometimes contridicting within mere moments

USA would be like Spain.
Barcelona = Los Angeles
Madrid = Chicago

Madrid is larger and probably more important but everybody loves and is obsessed with Barcelona

Except Chicago isn't larger than Los Angeles and doesn't look to ever be larger.

Interesting question.

Since this is a hypothetical question, I would like to take it a bit further.

I've always thought that if Asians, instead of Europeans, had settled America - then Seattle would probably be the largest city in the US. I would imagine that Vancouver Island would be part of Washington and the Seattle metro area would stretch onto it. Traffic on Puget Sound would be as busy as New York Harbor.

The only thing I think that would prevent this is because the Seattle area is not the best for bridges, so transportation would be hindered. But maybe there would be more ferries and the 3rd biggest ferry system in the world would be the biggest.

You got things mixed up. Chicago is more important but not larger than L.A.

Americans in general have favorable opinions of Seattle, Boston, New York. Chicago is somewhere in the middle. L.A ranks at the bottom end (same with Detroit & Oakland).

I'm not trying to come off as some sort of California booster of all things but do can you please explain why you feel Chicago is more important?
