Americans in general have favorable opinions of Seattle, Boston, New York. Chicago is somewhere in the middle. L.A ranks at the bottom end (same with Detroit & Oakland).
haha...thats totally irrelevant.

Likability is cute, a $900 billion gdp makes up for and far exceeds something as fluffy as what you just posted.

@downtown1 Chicago is not more important than LA. LA has a much larger GDP! And if LA was so hated by most Americans, why does everyone dream of moving there, or visiting? Why did NYC just barely win over it in America's favorite city poll? And why did Angelenos have more pride in their city than New Yorkers?

People with average IQs or higher know that GDP is only one factor. That's why the experts at The Economist, GaWC, The Atlantic, Pricewaterhouse Coopers ,etc. all place Chicago above L.A when it comes to importance and influence.

You, on the other hand, have the internet dudes and sockpuppets on your side. Good luck LOL

Don't confuse size and popularity with power and importance. GDP is just one factor. People with at least high school degree should know this. Chicago is more powerful and important as a city than L.A as agreed by many experts from The Economist, PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Brookings Institution, etc.

L.A has the size (GDP, population) but lacks power and global influence. Tell me one global city that has 3 Fortune 500 companies leaving fhe area in the last 5 years. If L.A is great for big business, why did major corporations like Northrop Grumman, The Hilton Hotel, Computer Science Corp. all move their headquarters out of L.A in the last few years? And why did the Pacific Stock Exchange shut down years ago? L.A economy, despite of its size, is still being controlled by the elite corporations headquartered in New York, Chicago, Tokyo, London, Paris, the Bay area, etc.

L.A is still a magnet for people who wanna pursuit their career in showbiz. But don't forget that Hispanics now are the majority in the Greater Los Angeles area. You should know who's coming and leaving the city.

According to this poll, New York ranked #10 in the "Proud of their city" category, LA # 28.

I think Chicago and LA battle it out.

The US would be more fragmented.

1A - Los Angeles
1B - Chicago

Of course it's Chicago, if we're talking about premier cities. I don't think LA qualifies in that category.

If it didn't, then it wouldn't be the third biggest GDP in the world (and 2nd in the country after NYC) after Tokyo and NYC, and it wouldn't have the 2nd biggest population in the country, it wouldn't have been the only other city besides NYC from America to have more than one museum on the "best museums" list, and wouldn't be known as a city of dreams around the world. Chicago can't compete with LA.

Chicago certainly competes in many areas, but overall I can agree with LA being slightly ahead.

LA is ahead, but its not as clear cut as some believe.

Just speaking from a population and GDP standpoint LA is in a different league, those 2 right there are very hard for me others alike to overlook when comparing both cities.
