Default Maine vs. New Hampshire vs. Vermont

Do you have a preference or affinty for a particular state in the Tri State Northern New England region? They are kindred states and remarkably different than their Southern New England peers (Mass/Conn/RI), though have their own little identities as well. Here are some topics to discuss

Most scenic
Best Mountains
Best Lakes
Best city (medium, small, size don't matter just list your favorite)
Economy/COL/Business climate
Distinctions & similaraties between the states
If you haven't been which one would you like to visit?

My personal preference is Maine. It has all the mountains and scenery of Vermont and NH plus the ocean and a lot of nice, quaint towns along the coast. And you have Acadia National Park.

Cities wise, Portland and Burlington is a push. Both are really nice. Both are better than Manchester and Concord in NH.

Most scenic - All have a lot of nice scenic areas, but Maine due to the coast.
Best Mountains - This is a push really. Vermont has the better ski areas
Best Lakes - NH
Best city (medium, small, size don't matter just list your favorite) - Maine
Economy/COL/Business climate - NH
Distinctions & similaraties between the states - Maine has the coast and that's the most distinguishing factor. Other than that, for the most part, all three states are similar.
If you haven't been which one would you like to visit? All three, but Maine is tops

I'd go for Maine. Awesome state.

I've been there once and am itching to go back.

All three are great states, VT is pure new england eye candy with the farms and the mountains but doesnt have much to offer in the way of jobs and the liberals are destroying that state. Maine has ALOT to offer as well with its coast line and I do love portland. My biast vote does go to NH though. It really is the most "livable" of the three states go as far as job oportunites and taxes. Its in the best location of all three states and it has the white mountains, the lakes region, the great north woods and portsmouth.

Wow, you make the economy of Vermont sound like it's in shambles but at 5.1% unemployment rate in December, 2012 which is very well below the national average that begs the question; how exactly is Vermont being destroyed by liberals? Economic & Labor Market Information - Vermont Department of Labor
Vermont is very a rural state so naturally it's not a hotbed beacon for jobs but it's also well educated and doing better than most, liberals and all. I know NH has a larger following of the delusional Rush Limbaugh crowd compared to the rest of New England and welcomes Wal-Mart with open arms compared with Vermont but come but come on now, get real.

Yes I have, like any state you'll find the "Oh remember the good ol' days" threads. "This state has changed so much, blah, blah, blah". Just like most every other state has. Just as NH likes to scapgoat Mass for it's ills or Oregon scapegoating California and so on, whatever big deal.

The statistics of the under employed are under reported, no doubt. Though Vermont is still doing better than most states, for income, crime rates, and education so to say something like the lberals are destroying the place isn't quite accurate, unless of course you listen to Rush Limbaugh.

Maine in my opinion is the most stuck up state of the three. Also, New Hampshire has the ocean too. You've never heard of Portsmouth? It's not just Maine who has the ocean. Maine has more coastline, but is also flatter overall than NH and Vmt. Vermont "looks" the most bland. The whole state practically looks the same. Burlington is just as expensive as Portland, yet Portland in my opinion is bigger and bettter. Although, New Hampshire has the biggest city of the three with with Manchester which is also in the Boston CSA. New Hampshire to me is the best state of the three. I think the people are slightly less pretentious of the New England states. Vermont is right there as well. NH has the highest mountain peaks of the three. Mt. Washington is a real gem. I personally hate driving through Vermont the most. The green mountains all look the same and I'm not sure that is a good thing.

Live free or DIE. Gotta love New Hampshire, although Ben and Jerry's and Killington are in Vermont and Maine is just beautiful.
Not voting here either haha.
