All you have to do is search certain streets here in the Middle East Coast and the block huggers will be there 24/7.

Statistically in 2012, Wilmington, Chester & North Philly are more dangerous than anywhere in FLA or Cali.

North Philly

North Dover Street, Philadelphia, PA - Google Maps

Chester

Johnson Street, Chester, PA - Google Maps

Wilmington

Bowers Street, Wilmington, DE - Google Maps

East 27 Street, Wilmington, DE - Google Maps

What is your point though? You never answered my question... What's a "scary ghetto"?

That was just an abbreviated way of saying Apocalyptic or bombed out.

For instance iv'e been in the ghetto's of West Palm, Miami and alot of Jamaica.

I never felt uncomfortable in the South Florida or Caribbean ghettos.

But parts of North Philly, East Wilmington & Chester iv'e been in just don't feel right.

Your post is a bit off since north Philly is just a section. With that being said Camden is overall worse.

Whoa. Jamaican ghettos are worse then anything in this country. At least you can walk with pricey items in American ghettos. In Jamaican ghettos you can't even walk around with pricey boxers on.

And the crime rates in central/ south America are skyrocket high. Countries as a whole have murder rates higher then some American cities.

I kind of hate the fact that whenever these threads pop up people start posting up crime rates.. That's really out of topic smh. It seems like everything a city does on city-data evolves around a cities murder rate

Murder rates are very misleading and every city has a good and bad side, so the question is which of them look the best or worst?

Potsdam.

(I thought the question was best looking, not anything to do with crime or anything else but how good it looked, architecture and the like).

I ask because having been to lower North Philly, "scary" was not the word that came to mind. Poor? Yes. Run-down? Some of it was. Did I feel uncomfortable? No. If you've been a victim of crime in North Philly before then I could understand being uncomfortable... otherwise, not really.

The only other circumstance that I could see a ghetto area as being "scary" is if there's a lot of racial tension... that I can perfectly understand. Then again, I avoid certain poor white neighborhoods when I'm in Chicago for the same reason. Safety is also relative... a "safe" well-off predominantly white area might not be so safe for me.

And as far as racial tension goes, IMO Philly's one of the better East Coast cities... I actually saw blacks/whites/middle easterners living next to each other in the same neighborhoods in North Philly and in some neighborhoods in West Philly (namely Cedar Park). This is why I'm not exactly sure what makes you uncomfortable in North Philly.

There are narrow streets around the Strawberry Mansion section that i just don't wan't to be on.

Overpopulated with people walking in and out of homes with no doors or windows.

I would rather be in a Caribbean ghetto with green grass and sunshine.

Wilmington, Chester, Camden are all top 10.

Riviera Beach is the only place in Florida to make top 25.
We've already discussed how flawed that list is. Either way, how less dangerous is a city/hood if it's 10 spaces down on a list? I've driven through WIlmington, it's gutter, but nothing that would shock someone who lived in Riviera to be honest. What's different besides the colder weather and bricks? Your level of uncomfortably doesn't dictate the danger.
