It's interesting that Portland is near or at the top of the list according to most people, because they're also the place to go for artisan pizzas in the Western US.

Well the two things DO go together, right? I guess you could just about live at a brewpub that serves good pizza, or vice versa.

Not that it belongs on any top 20 list, but I go back to Indianapolis once a year and every trip discover a new small brewpub. The point being is that craft beer is everywhere.

How about Golden, Colorado? The second biggest brewery is an outdoor beer garden called Golden City Brewery, can't remember the name of the slightly larger one.

There's no question that Denver (if you include the surrounding area) has one of the top brewing cultures in the U.S. However, while it's great to take pride in your city, you need to also recognize there are other areas that can easily be included in the debate, notably Portland. I would say Portland is a small notch above Denver, which itself if roughly #2, at least in my book. That's quite an acknowledgement to be placed ahead of SF, Chicago and San Diego, which each have their own incredibly strong and unique (and growing) brewing/beer scenes.
