Because of the Dark Knight Rises movie and the Man of Steel teaser, it got me thinking. Which city do you feel represnts Gotham City and Metropolis the most?

For Gotham City I would say Chicago, followed by NYC. Chicago a little more because of it's organized crime history (not saying NYC didn't have it, it's just Chicago is more well known for it) and because the city is far more corrupt than NYC.

As for Metropolis I think San Francisco, NYC or Toronto. I feel like Toronto might be the best match.

What do y'all think?

What's your point? Michael Jordan was originally from North Carolina, but people link him to Chicago.

When people think Al Capone they think Chicago though. He is more well known for the things he did in Chicago rather then NYC.

I'm not so sure that immediately comes to mind when people think "Chicago." As far as the popular perception of Cosa Nostra, most people are going to make the connection with New York before Chicago.

With Capone they make the connection to Chicago. Do you even know his biography? Capone left NYC in his early 20's and pretty much his criminal career was entirely in Chicago.

Go through this thread and see how many times gangsters comes up:International perceptions of Chicago

When people think of NYC, gangsters is not one of the first things they think about. With Chicago it does happen.

That's fine. I'm saying that most people think New York before Chicago when they think of organized crime. I mean, NYC has how many mob movies compared to Chicago?

I think it was Stan Lee that said that "Metropolis" is New York City by day, and "Gotham" is New York City by night.
