Now that I looked more into that, I realized that I definitely should have included that originally. I also realized that Ive seen pictures of that and read about it before, I had forgotten all about it. My imaginary vote goes to riverwalk .

The Memphis waterfront is very good, especially with Mud Island and the monorail going to it, and the wide Mississippi River. St. Louis is a close second with the riverboat casinos, the Gateway Arch and the downtown right along the Mississippi. Washington DC has a very pretty riverfront along the Potomac with the many memorials.

Of the ones not among the choices, I think Savannah, Georgia is defnitely worth mentioning. Part of the historic district lies on the Savannah River and it also has the very impressive Talmadge bridge crossing the river from downtown Savannah into South Carolina.

Detroit's Riverwalk is still sort of under semi-redevelopment (the entire pathway will be 5 miles long). But the section in front of the Ren Cen has been a huge success as a gathering spot.

If there's at least one thing positive happening in Detroit, it's definitely the redevelopment of the riverfront.

That's not a river, it's a stream, at best.
