Chicago being a more 'international' or 'global' city than Houston really isn't debatable, anti-sunbelt bias or not.

Why do some people think Houston is like New York in terms of diversity? There is absolutely no statisical proof that Houson is more diverse than Chicago.

I agree fully that Chicago is a more international and global city, but Houston does win out on diversity.

I have already seen the statistics for every major metropolitan area in the US. Houston is much more comparable to Chicago than it is to New York. Having more Hispanics(as a %) does not equal more diverse.

Houston also has a higher percentage of Asians than does Chicago and a larger African population.

Chicago does get a lot more people from Europe and by total numbers (as opposed to percentages) its Asian population is larger, but based on percentages Houston is more diverse than Chicago.

If you're who I think you are then welcome back and thanks for the stats again.

Chicago is a more international city and the population difference alone would prove that between their metros. Chicago is top 5 and Houston's top 10. Both soundly. Chicago has more of an international identity and that's the strongest difference.

They're close in diversity with Houston having the good edge up. Chicago's still one of the most underrated diverse cities in the country.

There really isn't any city in the US that I can think of that can compare to the United States' big 3 on the international stage. Maybe in ~50 years or so that will shake up, but currently they win unchallenged.

I posted earlier in this thread of how Houston is the most diverse city in the country right now. It's definitely more diverse. I alone can tell just from having lived in both cities, but there's raw data to back it up now.

There you go. This should stop any debate of that.
