Battle of the resort towns!

Do you prefer the green, lush canopy and mountainous wilderness that covers Banff and the surrounding area? Are you more enamored by the tropical flavor and crystal blue waters of Key West?

You know what? I vote neither. Banff doesn't have anything that Key West has and Key West doesn't have what Banff has. There has to be a standard here. You can't compare a mountain resort to a beach resort, it's apples to oranges. One may happen to like BOTH apples and oranges. Banff to Aspen? sure. Key West to Maui? sure. But we have to classify these things. After all, THAT is what seperates us from the animals

buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, for the record: I'll take Banff.

The Keys are interesting. The turquoise ocean is beautiful. And, most of all, the feeling is so relaxing.

However, the dramatic scenery of Banff, and its nearby lakes, is much more picturesque.

You don't go to Banff to get a tan and laze around, but it is more photogenic.

It depends on what someone prefers, I personally prefer giant majestic mountains, stunning wildlife and crystal clear mountain side lakes.

they are different...hard to compare. Why not go Banff and Denver or Zurich or Key West and Nassau or Charleston, SC?

You're trying to compare apples to motor oil

The entire stretch from Banff up to Lake Louise is amazing. I would put it up there with the drive from Vancouver up to Whistler as being easily two of the most scenic/pretty areas of North America.

Banff is more spectacular in terms of scenery. The Canadian Rockies are beautiful and it's dramatic how the mountains rise above the town--or even more picturesque at somewhere like Lake Louise or the Parkway. That being said, if you're not into mountains, you'd probably be no more impressed by Banff than some spots in Colorado or Montana or the Sierra or Cascades.

Key West on the other hand has a very nice tropical feel to it and the drive down through the Lower Keys is fun, but the real unique element of Key West for the lower 48 is that it's basically a Carribbean island that you can drive to. Compared to other Carribbean islands however, there's more scenic locations and better beaches than Key West. But the snorkeling in the Keys is really good--and like I said, it's a great place to spend a couple days if you're in Miami. But I wouldn't fly across the country to just go to Key West--I'd rather just ante up and explore a Carribbean island.

Except for tourism though, there's not that much to compare the two. Key West is more fun for drinking and such, while Banff has it's own attractions, but it's more of a ski town.

the word Banff sounds stupid, like some cartoon character would utter if he just got kicked in the groinal area, I vote for Key West because they serve better drinks and the sunset is much better.
