A panel of Time Out experts selected 75 cities to celebrate in the book 'The World's Greatest Cities' according to six criteria: Architecture, Arts & Culture, Buzz, Food & Drink, Quality of Life and World Status. In conjunction with our local correspondents, the panel then awarded the cities scores in each category and totalled them up for an overall ranking. The results are both fascinating and often surprising.

The only thing I will comment on is that the Niners had a terrible loss last week but I'm still not sold on the Texans. Two awful opponents and a not very good Peyton Manning led Broncos team are their 3 wins. Playoff team for sure and super bowl contender I guess, but not all the way sold YET.

EDIT: Also, the Texans are a big fish in the worst division in the league by far. The AFC South is the new NFC West. And the NFC West is becoming a new power division. The Cardinals and the Seahawks to a lesser extent are looking scary. The Rams are much improved as well.
There is no doubt that the Texans will be in the post season. To be honest I think they make it to the AFC championship. The AFC doesn't have any good defences this year except Houston which might get them past a Ravens or Patriots team

Yes the AFC is getting soft. Ravens and Texans are the only teams being consistent right now. The NFC is getting scary, especially the Falcons, and the Cardinals could just be for real. Niners, Packers, Bears, Cowboys, Giants, Eagles... NFC is deep. The Saints will be back and so many teams are showing promise / are much improved: Vikings, Seahawks, Redskins, Rams.

Two AFC divisions are absolutely terrible and two are average at best.

This thread has gotten so dumb. Can we please shut it down? The few SF boosters on here have ruined it.

It's fine by me, I encourage facts, it's the only way to have a nondelusional discussion anyway and his was ok by me.

And what exactly are you, if not a booster? Please stop pretending that your some impartial observer cause your fooling no one.

Furthermore, Ive already stated 10 times that we should be able to agree to disagree, but you seem to be hellbent on forcing people to agree to your view, and anyone who disagrees with you is branded a 'booster'.

Yes, I remember this ranking, we specifically talked here about how the PANEL OF EXPERTS simply voted for the cities they come from.

LMAO.

The world's greatest city? - Time Out Travel
Nice list and nice mix of criteria. Though you can certainly nitpick some of the scores. London only 7 for architecture - same as Berlin? Chicago higher score for buzz than Paris? Also I think Barcelona can match (if not surpass) London, and even NY, for buzz.

I would have liked to see Madrid and Buenos Aires - two amazing cities - on this list, but I am pretty sure they both ended up very close to top 10. As probably did SF. I'd be curious to see the full list if anyone has it.

If there is a suspect inclusion in the top 10 it is Istanbul since quality of life and world status are two of the criteria where I would expect it to rank poorly. It is however a huge city, with very rich culture and history so you can make a strong argument for it.

This list is as good as any.

The way I see it:

Both are well known. It's perfectly reasonable to say that and then say "slight edge or edge to" either of these cities.

The only people that are wrong are the ones making it out to be a brush across the board IMO.

This is my unbiased opinion as someone that loves both cities equally (that's why I haven't voted). They're both winners.
