LA barely has a skyline. Count all the buildings taller then 30 stories high in LA and then count the ones in San Francisco. Not to mention our city is has huge rolling hills with high end hotels and trolly cars. Seattle has more buildings but it looks cluttered. I'de say San Francisco is probably at least second best city, NYC being number one, Boston being third and Miami being forth, LA being fith and maybe Chicago as 6th because it is build on flat land from the photos I have seen. At least LA has mountains and hills around it.

Scenery and backdrops are overated. I mean are we really going to exclude skylines from being in the "top 5" if they dont have hills or mountains? Besides Seattles skyline isn't going to look as impressive when your standing right in front of it, and you can't see Mt. Ranier anymore.

If scenery is just as important as the actual skyline than Anchorage, AK would be in the top 5.
2008 October If I had to pick five

Personally, Seattle shouldn't be in the top 5, well maybe 5th. But I understand I'm in the minority. And SF, maybe due to its density could be in the top 5, but even then, I'm a little apprehensive.
And anyone who thinks Chicago shouldn't be in the top 5 is crazy. A matter of opinion, I know, but come on!

Scenery is a bonus to a skyline, and shouldn't in any way be weighted as much as the actual variation of color and architecture, aesthetics, height, or density in a skyline.

Pittsburgh Best Skyline In The Country Hands Down
The city is set on a triangle surrounded by three rivers with a back drop of green rolling hills.
The skyline was designed specifically for the setting not haphazardly thrown together in dissaray
No other city has the vantage points and beauty of this amazing city
If you are not voting for Pittsburgh there is a reason WHY
It is the Best Kept Secret In The World

^that is color enhanced, the river is much too blue, as large rivers have sediment in them so they are browner than that
