Metro population of Greater Phila today is approximately that of NY in 1910, LA and Chicago at some point in the 50s/60s, and Philadelphia the city is approximately the same population as Manhattan, both populations present day.

Well, if those numbers on that site are 1= 1000, then the Sault Ste. Marie, MI micropolitan area would be closest to New York in 1790 or Boston in 1810.

Im talking about the city limits and not metros.

In 1950, St.Louis was larger then D.C, Boston, San Francisco, San Jose, Cincinnati, San Diego, Portland and Seattle of that time.
Present day, St.Louis peak (856,000) would beat the current populations of San Francisco, Boston, D.C, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, Cincinnati, San Jose, Seattle, Charlotte, Columbus, Indianapolis, Omaha, Austin and others.

St.Louis now has 319,000 people. We've lost our glory days
