Why would they use "metro divisions" for some cities? Seems pretty arbitrary.
Also, NYC MSA has 4 metro divisions over 2 million people that would make this list, but only 1 was listed??

Cause its neat to see where in the metro people are moving too. See i thought more growth was happening on the fort worth side, but this shows that the Dallas side is still out pacing the FW division.

You can only make comparisons like that for metros that got all their divisions included. NYC metro divisions are just based on geographic directions (North, South, East, West), that's why there is 4 of them. So at least for NYC all these stats tell is how many people are moving to the city plus the Northern suburbs, since a lot of close suburbs next to city limits like Long Island (East) and New Jersey (West, and South) were not included. Not to mention that the areas they omitted are pretty big population wise and should make this list purely based on their size, Long Island division alone is 2.9 million people. So the number that is listed for NYC doesn't actually tell anything at all. Its just city limits plus a quarter of the suburbs in 1 direction... :\ It would be fine if they at least included city limits plus a ring of closest suburbs around the city or something.

And the 2010 Census taught us that projections always prove to be true. LOLOLOLOL

Every census does that. Is not the first time the projections were wrong. Every census they just find or how far of they were. I remember many cities being off after the 2000 census

Every census is wrong and the census people know that yet they act really defiant when cities and states question their findings...its very strange.

Given that the census ITSELF is at least 1/3 estimate, I'd imagine that to be true.

There is no way to count millions upon millions of people with any sort of exactness. The only thing you can do is gauge with a statistical alpha (or 'margin of error') is a rough range of what an area's population is.

The American Factfinder set the margin of error at .01, meaning that the margin of error is +/-0.01% However, I think that the margin of error is too low given that at least 1/3 (on average) of any given area's population does NOT fill out the census. In some areas, it could be as low as 1/5 (80% return) or as low as 1/2 (50% return), so the census itself makes a leap of faith.

So the 2010 census, or any other census really after computerization, is really an estimate as well.

The federal government could fix this by tagging everyone, but come on, that's so intrusive it would be like living in Soviet Russia.
