I think that is fair. I personally think Chicago has a better bar scene, but Philly is no slouch either. Philly imo is the most underrated city in the US; it is one of my top 3 favorite cities.

What makes for a good bar scene? How would you rate Chicsgo's bar scene compared to Boston's?

More varied types of bars, more niche bars, more lively bars. Basically not having the same scene in every bar you go to. I think Chicago is a little more of a party heavy city than Boston.

Do you mean "niche" in the type of music they play?
Boston can be (or used to be) super crazy from late August/early September through Mid October. Then Midterms come around and everyone goes into hiding (depending on how the Sox were doing that year).

Boston has a good bar scene as well, but I find it to be a little one note. I think Philly has a better bar scene than Boston.
A good bar scene in my opinion is made up of Great Food (many Chicago bars serve up phenomenal food); great beer selection or selection of good whiskey's, Music, Crowd, etc.

niche in the theme of the bars, i.e. having whiskey bars, tequila bars, german themed, gin bars, cocktail bars, retro bars, brew houses, irish themed, sports bars, bars that specialize in certain types of music, etc.
Well, I get paid when I spin, but I would hardly say I "DJ for a living." I don't have a residency or anything. I started out doing parties in college. Then weddings. And now I'll fill in for friends who have residencies on occasion.
Are there any local (or abroad) DJ's or musical artists that have inspired you? It's been years since I've messed around with a mixer and turn tables. I use to have a collection until it was stolen from a party I once did. (a DJ's worse nightmare). I miss it. My interest right now is learning piano and then onto keyboarding. My goal is to one day produce my very own electronica song. My father was a pianist and was in a band during the 60's which exposed me to a variety of music when I was younger. Keep spinning my friend.
Chicago bars may have beer Wisconsin next door but you forgot about this
