This again, isn't a fair comparison especially when you take in the entire Twin Cities region. The twin cities are essentially Columbus and Cincinnati combined. Not quite by population but it feels that way. Cbus is a neat town though, by far the most attractive place in Ohio for a young professional and that's why it's population surge shows it.

Columbus not not very exciting in any way and I am a Ohio St fan. Ohio St is the best thing about C Bus.

For Ohio it's exciting and that's why literally everyone from OH moving there. Compared to Minneapolis it feels more like a mid sized city. It cannot compare to Minny as evidenced by this poll. Just a lower tier of city but very vibrant.
Austin is a good peer city to Columbus. Way too many similarities to overlook that one. Columbus doesn't have SXSW or a river, but then Austin doesn't have pro sports.
Its funny because Austin people will likely see that as a slight and Columbus people as a promotion.
Wait, Columbus doesn't have a river? What's this again? It may not be the Ohio or Mississippi, but it's definitely a river.

I don't really think 95% of US cities are "exciting". They're mostly just slightly different versions of the same thing. Neither Minneapolis nor Columbus are part of the 5%. Doesn't make them bad cities at all, but most people wouldn't confuse them for entertainment capitals. They're just solid places to live/work, and that is good enough for most.

I would agree with that. Most places are boring after awhile. After living in NYC every place is kinda boring for me but more livable which is good as well.

Probably the best advice I have seen on here in awhile, lol.

My mistake, a river that means anything.
