Why are you rolling your eyes and saying it's ridiculous? I actually love Philadelphia and was just telling my boyfriend I want to go back there to visit again (was last there in November). I'm also an accountant and work in numbers. You say it's ridiculous to put it in that way "that Philadelphia is 30% more dangerous than Chicago" (your words). I never said that at all, all I did was point out the very statistical fact that Philadelphia's murder rate in 2013 through the middle of maybe is exactly 35% higher than Chicago's. It's just a simple fact - if rates were the same than 24 more people would be alive in Philly or 42 more people would have been killed in Chicago. I didn't say a word painting one in another light than the other, I respect Philly a great deal.

I wasn't pointing out anything wrong with Philly, but more responding to another crazy poster who was stating the opposite of reality. Reality is reality.

Haven't looked at all the decreases but New Orleans dropped from 200 to 193 & St Louis stayed the same at 113.

I'm surprised that those cities are experiencing an increase in crime - in particular Dallas and Houston: I've always thought that cities with loose gun laws were crime-free utopias
