I like San Diego best of the California cities. I liked the warm weather and beaches. Big enough to have a lot going on, but not quite the endless sprawl of LA. SF is very nice, but to me a little overrated, especially with the often chilly weather.

that post is from the LA picture forum is a pretty summation of what you see in LA. My vote's for LA by a long shot on this though I like the other cities a lot, too. Several years ago, I probably would have put Seattle as my favorite, but LA's much improved at this point and it's only been somewhat recently that I've come to understand just how massive and diverse LA is.
The building I live in makes a cameo (just barely though) in that post.

I voted for San Francisco (which seems the most interesting for its local culture and history) but I like them all for different reasons. Los Angeles of course has everything, Seattle and Portland are in one of the best regions in the country, and San Diego has a beautiful climate and has Balboa Park and the zoo.

Btw, because of 'homers" voting, you should have made this vote public. On the Northeast cities thread, I noticed a few people from the Northeast were voting for their home cities (one city in particular) even though the OP specifically said only for people outside the Northeast to vote.

Yeah, but LA is not Miami as far as heat(thank Gawd), we have microclimates in CA including LA so its not hot everywhere.

Also, there are plenty of 'hot' summer places in the Bay Area as well.

Compared to where?

San Francisco winters are Dubai in summer compared to the Northeast. LOL

I think the weather in San Fran is too cool in the summer. It just rarely gets warm there. I like my summers hot enough to go swimming and boating.

As the old joke goes, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

I agree w/ you about the northeast though...my preference is definitely the warmer climate of the sunbelt.

1) Los Angeles - I enjoyed the culture
2) San Francisco - Amazing city but not a fan of SJ or Oakland
3) Seattle - I am not a fan of the city - The Space Needle is a want to be skyscraper and looks cheesy
4) San Diego - Too small
5) Portland - Ugh, Too much wrong with the city so I choose not to comment

I can only live in LA or San Francisco from these choices.

Yeah, but where are going to go boating in hot weather in LA? Its actually cool right along the coastal areas of LA, just like here-fyi.

We have many areas that go into the upper 90s and low 100s. Drive 30 miles east or north from SF and your baking.

And boating in San Francisco Bay is amazing. Ive done it several times.

But then that requires you to leave San Francisco. It's not about just having warm weather. It's about having warm weather where the action is located.
