Midland does not have any suburbs. It is just Midland & Odessa & they combine. So the population with them together is around 240,000 the last update I got.
Midland and Odessa are usually considered to be a metropolitan area which Midland has now about 106,000 people and Odessa is approx. 96,000. There virtually aren't ANY suburbs other than Greenwood (Midland) and West Odessa (Odessa). All in all, the combined MSA population is about 220,000. The reason for all the buildings in downtown Midland is because of the high volume of oil & gas millionaires that headquarter their oil & gas companies there. So, when you look at a city like Hartford that has a population of 125,000 but a MSA of 1.2 million, then I can understand why Hartford has a skyline of it's size. But for Midland, with a population of 106,000...and the majority of Odessa's people STAYING in Odessa to do their business, then I think it's pretty amazing that we have a skyline this nice.
Do you honestly believe that Norfolk's skyline is better than Richmond's? Norfolk's downtown is making great strides and expanding but I think it has a long way to go to catch Richmond's skyline.
I know it's not on the list, but I do like Madison, Wisconsin's skyline. There aren't any tall buildings or anything, but I think the skyline has nice density and it is very attractive and worth mentioning, especially with the capital rising above the rest of the buildings in the middle.
As for the absolute best mid-size skylines, I would vote for Des Moines, Iowa. It's just very impressive for a city it's size, and very aesthetically pleasing.
nice pics of Madison's skyline, I like it, and I wonder why Des Moines being so small has such a great skyline.

Honestly, I don't.
But do I think Norfolk's downtown is more vibrant?
