All the cities on the top 10 list are boring except for Philadelphia. Just visit Philly and see how many young people are in the city. Or ask your friends, I bet a lot of them wish they could live here.
The list doesn't take into account 'hip'. It's entirely focused on economics. Not all of them are boring but some of them are. Most of the 'hip' cities still made the list except for Portland.
Philly's a top performer in economics too. This city didn't feel the recession and has a more diversified economy again like the other cities on the list.

It didn't make the top 10 though in this list. Philly is a great city however.
I'm honestly shocked Durham made the list and not charlotte.. I thought young people were moving therein droves....atleast that's the perception here on CD
Not quite as many as were moving there pre-Recession, and Charlotte is still recovering. The list is largely based on the performance of the local economy.
The Business Journal Has this publication ever been legit within any of its markets? While they claim this list is, "based on The Business Journals' analysis of the nation's 102 major markets.," their lists are hardly ever in-depth. Their "analysis" can be very suspect.
