I'll speak mostly on Philadelphia:

-Great for empty nesters and singles- a lot of them move to the city especially in Rittenhouse Square Area.

-Will you plan on opening a new business in Philadelphia? The city is a great place for new small businesses right now. They are offering a ton of tax breaks and the city and state are currently working to cut business taxes pretty drastically (this likely won't be completed for a few more years though).

-Great walk-ability, great public transit, good shopping, great restaurants, great cultural attractions, great cafes, great nightlife for whatever you seek (bars, lounges, clubs, music venues, etc. etc.)

-Great parks- Fairmount Park, Schuylkill River Trail, Schuylkill Banks Park, Rittenhouse Park, Washington Square Park, Logan Square Park and the Ben Franklin Parkway, Penn Park, Clark Park, FDR Park, Pennypack Park, Wissahickon Gorge, not to mention all the great State Parks in the suburbs as well.

-Tons of loft living all throughout the city. Old City has a high concentration of lofts. Fitler Square has some loft buildings.

-Live outdoor events? Tons of them in Philadelphia

-Everyone loves single women

I have stayed in Philly a lot over the years. At this current time,I can say that Philly has some momentum it has not had in years.I love Philly almost as much as I love Atlanta.
Summersm343 said everything I would say is great about Philly.

It really comes down to personal choice .
These are 2 very different cities.

I choose Atlanta for these reason
Atlanta is always changing and growing in more ways than just buildings,Its nice to see those changes happen.Vitality.

Weather-Even in the winter their are days people are out in the public areas.

The Outdoors-Trees and hills.Thats how I would describe Atlanta.Azaelas and Dogwoods.
Cost of Living
More space and the newness of things
People are friendlier

Stores and places seem to stay open longer and later.

The Music and Entertaimnent sceenes in Atlanta is neat to be able to participate in or just witness. For example :I watched Conan Obrien taped his live show here at the Fox this week.

A month ago I was walking and ran into a filming of "The Vampire Diaries"

Yes, Atlanta and Philly are both great cities. I've been in Chicago, Detroit and Columbus,Ohio for so long that I am thinking of trying something new and move down south.

But your location says Midtown Atlanta?

Honestly, Midtown Atlanta actually fits your needs really well. Philly is a great city too, however. A lot of it would come down to weather, I imagine.
