Never mind, I should have known the only thing that could settle any discussion would be you. You've made that very clear.

There will still be some Texans arguing that Houston belongs with LA and Chicago...

Actually the clarity in this thread has come from the actual statistics themselves. Opinions and personal ego-driven civic boosterism mean nothing when weighed against numbers.

As far as business its cut and dry-period.

When you add other factors on top of business-its not so cut and dry. Getting anyone to acknowledge that is like pulling teeth.

It is a humongous book. As a college kid, I used to go in and read it at the library. Obviously, that wasn't an item they'd let circulate

That's an interesting way of looking at it. Economically/commercially, we may not be all that different from Renaissance-era Italy...lol!

I've seen threads here on C-D where posters argue exactly that point. It's even been asserted that Houston will one day be in the top three—displacing either Chicago or L.A.

Gotta love Texans...

I predict Houston will be given 1-AAA rating in 10-15 years from now.

New York has always been given the unique rating 1-AAAA due to its preeminent status in the national hierarchy. Chicago was originally the only other city rated 1-AAA as having influence over a large area of the country. In 1988, Los Angeles was similarly given a 1-AAA rating.

You mean Boston and Houston are more important to the WORLD than the US???? That doesnt make any sense!

Maybe in 10-20 years, BUT, Houston and Dallas both are gaining in status. GET USED TO IT.

Not trying to cause any further disagreement, but for the saking of passing along info.

Here's a link to a map of Major Trading Areas as defined by that Rand McNally Atlas and I believe the Commerce Dept.
