Ok this is my first post... I'm going to try to do this... here goes nothing...
I have been to both New York and Chicago and people in both cities act like it is common knowlege that they have the best pizza.
Well... now we are going to have a showdown... Which city has the best pizza in America? Which city has the best pizza restaurants? Who is the pizza capital of America?
Chicago by far, I was not impressed with pizza in NYC at all. But I've never really cared for thin crust. The worst was this pizza I had in Hoboken, NJ, I'm sure there are better places but it's not as easy to come across good pizza in NY or NJ as some make it out to be imo.
Well the pizza styles these cities are known for are very different, so I don't even know if they're truly comparable. Overall I would have to give the pizza capital to New York though. It seems like there are pizza joints on every other corner in that city, and I can't say the same about Chicago. New York also has an Italian-American culture that is much stronger than Chicago's. Interestingly enough most people I know in Chicago don't eat deep dish pizza the majority of the time, which is odd to me because deep dish is awesome and most of the thin crust pizza here is nothing special.
I ate at sbarro in New York and it was terrible. Therefore, Chicago.
