Fact is Houston's metro of 6 million could give Los Angeles the city a run for its money in diversity numbers.
Most of Houston statistics are inflated. This place doesn't hold a candle to LA.

You're right, Houston doesn't hold a candle to LA.... It holds a torch.

Even as a person who holds a healthy amount of disdain for LA, I voted for LA on this one. Sorry Houston, you've grown a lot of the past few decades, but you got years to go before you can even think about competing with LA.

Not bad. Definitely feels more a little sparce compared to DTLA's skyline, but its in the same ballpark.

Now, does Houston have any other skylines besides its downtown though? That's kind of the point of that pic of the basin: LA has multiple skylines: Downtown, Hollywood, Mid Wilshire, Century City, Westwood, etc. I live downtown and find it to be such a self-contained city that I hardly leave, but there are people that live in Santa Monica, Westwood, Beverly Hills, etc. that never even go downtown. LA is a beast. Not really getting that impression from Houston.

Houston's skyline is really beautiful, but LA doesn't just possess a skyline. It's a constellation. Have you ever stood on one of the many lookouts or hills at the LA night?

Los Angeles is a one of the most important, well-known cites on earth home to some of the most important, well-know places and industries on earth. Houston, for all its blessings, just...isn't.

Yes, more than 8 just off the top of my head & they are also much taller too.

By comparison the tallest building outside of DT LA is 550' in Century City.

The tallest building outside of DT Houston is 901' in Uptown Houston. Houston's 4th tallest (Marathon Oil Building) outside of its DT is the same height as LA's Century City towers.

Huh. Funny that Houston is ranked #20 to LA's #13 on SkyscraperPage, eh? I wonder why that is?

Who cares about skylines anyhow? LA mops the floor with Houston when it comes to street level.

For the past few years, I've been planning to relocate from Houston to L.A to be closer to family. There are so many plus and minus to both cities. Not sure why all the back and forth arguments on here. There are no perfect city, it's more of how you gonna fit in and what you will experience there. both places are growing by 1 million plus every decade. Not so sure if one will be much better than the other. My friends who moved here from L.A really love it here and vice versa.
