Sporting Kansas City plays on the Kansas side of the metro, not on the Missouri side, so thus it counts for Kansas and not Missouri

The WNBA has yet to expand to big market cities like San Francisco, Philadelphia, Boston, and Dallas.

But there are still no teams located in the 4th, 5th, and 6th largest sports markets. That is something that cannot be ignored. A successful professional sports league usually needs more than just the big 3 sports markets.
