Partyville / slacker capitals:
New Orleans, Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix, Honolulu
This city has it all:
NYC
Great places for house parties / pub crawls:
Chicago, Philly, Boston, Portland, Austin, Minneapolis
Need to be at the right place at the right time:
LA, Seattle, Atlanta, San Diego, San Francisco, DC, Memphis
Not-as-much, but still honorable mentions:
Tampa, Nashville, Columbus, Charlotte, Sacramento, Reno, San Antonio
Where the party at??
Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, Orlando (would've thought this one would be bumpin)
Kinda surprised Atlanta has 16 votes. Is it really that good there? Austin I can definitely see.
Might not be as popular for your average C-Der, but ATL has great clubs for the hip-hop/R&B scene. There are a lotta clubs in ATL that would cater to the interests of an average black person, whereas most other cities are more general with their targeting.

Columbus nightlife is light years more exciting than Charlotte Sacramento etc. It brings and is a draw for the alternative/hipster rock scene within the region. Many of these acts skip pittsburgh, indy, cleveland, cincinnati, etc and will go to detroit and columbus and chicago when visiting the region.
Plus the city is home to the second largest quantity of people college aged in the whole US. Only boston has more. The metro has 13 colleges/universities. Add in its one of the largest LGBT populations between the coasts. It is much more along the lines of austin, portland, boston (but more gay) type of city.
Last call in Chicago is 3-5am, depending on the day. Try again.
There's varying licenses. 3am is standard, but for a little extra, it can be 4am everyday but Saturdays, when it's 5am. Most bars on Saturdays close between 3-5am, you got that right.
Here's a look at some cities or states with last call later than 2am:
* Alaska - 5am
* Miami - 24 hours
* Broward County, FL - 4am
* Honolulu - 4am (well Hawaii)
* Atlanta - 2:30am
* Chicago - 4am everyday but Saturday when it's 5am (3am standard on weekends in the least)
* New Orleans - 24 hours (Louisiana)
* Indianapolis - 3am (Indiana)
* St. Louis and Kansas City - Some bars can close at 3am
* Las Vegas - 24 hours
* Atlantic City, NJ - 24 hours
* NYC - 4am (but clubs can stay open later if they stop serving alcohol)
* Binghamton, NY - 3am
* Portland - 2:30am
* Ohio - Can go to 2:30am sometimes
* Pennsylvania - Can go to 3am sometimes
* Memphis - 24 hours
* Tennessee - 3am
* DC - Friday/Saturday nights = 3am
* West Virginia = 3am

Don't you need a special license to stay open that late? I thought not all bars were allowed to stay open that late.
When I visited Chicago there didn't seem to be that many places that stayed open until 4/5am.
