I would say probably Austin hands down.

Boston, Denver, Nashville, and Richmond are also nice.

Call me a homer, but I really dig Santa Fe. No other city like it, especially in terms of history, food, and architecture.

Honolulu, DC (for country capital), oh, and Annapolis was really cool! I loved it!

My favorites are Denver, Boston, St. Paul, Sacramento, Columbus, Madison, Des Moines, and Santa Fe probably.

-Architecture: Des Moines for the capitol itself, Boston for the rest of the city
-Quality of Life: St. Paul
-Natural Beauty: Denver (maybe Montpelier? seems pretty amazing from pictures)
-Social/political Feel: not sure, I know Des Moines, St. Paul, and Pierre best and they all have a political feel.
-Activities: Denver, Boston, St. Paul, Nashville, Sacramento, Phoenix... pretty much all of them over a million people
-Must see attractions: same as above

Boston, SLC, Austin, Augusta (don't know much about the city itself but it's in Maine which is a huge plus for me).

Nice looking capital building. It's got a Wal-Mart and a quiet downtown. There are small towns on the coast of Maine that have more to do.
