So many people make blanket statements about St. Louis being both boring and dangerous....then I ask them where they live and they name a suburb 30 miles from downtown....then I shake my head and giggle.

Memphis, OMAHA, Kansas City, Charlotte, Phoenix to name a few.

I have been to plenty of small cities that were actually pretty fun. I recently visited Rapid City and it was a fun little city. Kinda like a miniature Denver, even more-so with the 'mountain' backdrop. There are plenty of things to do around the area that last for 2-4 days depending on how you manage your time there.

It depends on what city you are comparing it to. If it is top is the top few tier urban cities then it is very much boring. On it's own I would put on the Houston level but below it in the rankings. I will tell you it's a lot more liked by people here though. IMO, being kind of close to Los Angeles helps it out there.

I think DC is highly under rated and called boring because of politicians. I often hear people say DC is cold and sterile, but over the past few years the whole city has revitalized itself and has great neighborhoods now.

I really never understood how SD was boring compared to any other city/metro around it's size. I always found something to do, there are plenty of events/festivals year round for people into that type of stuff.
