I find it simply ridiculous when people use the words "FAR more" and talk about food variety when comparing cities when you can find just about anything you want in metros that are that large. Chances are though, most people will never eat at even a tenth of the restaurants in a metro. However, I believe there is more drama on CD from Dallas posters.

The food in Phoenix definitely caters towards a more conservative palate. For a large city, I found the ethnic food to be lacking. Everything had to be "dumbed down" to feel more trendy and less authentic. For example, PF Changs was founded in Scottsdale, to appeal to that Caucasian Arizona populace. Then you have Pita Jungle, a bland wannabe Mediterranean restaurant (not authentic to any specific country) that everyone raves about. Arizona is great if you like sandwiches, burgers, salad, pizza, etc. But I was truly underwhelmed by the food scene.

You didnt spend much time in Scottsdale, then. Every conceivable type of food is represented there. Your post reminds me of someone visiting Amarillo and complaining that Texas food isnt good or diverse. You have to truly span the state to get a feel for whats offered.

Well if you knew anything about Phoenix at all, you would know that Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe are pretty much inseparable and intrinsically connected with one another. Most tourists visiting the valley are likely going to end up in Scottsdale at some point in time, and its adjacent to Phoenix. I spent all my time in Scottsdale, because I lived there! I didn't like many of the restaurants there. Some of my favorites were Persian Room and Havana Cafe. There were definitely a couple of good restaurants, but as a whole Scottsdale/Phoenix lacked the restaurant diversity of other cities.
I remember everyone getting all excited whenever Fox Restaurant Concepts opened a new place. I just didn't see the appeal, coming from a larger more diverse city.

The vibe in Scottsdale is more upscale, plastic, and white bread, and no Scottsdale is not diverse. Its over 80% non-Hispanic white.
That's because Phoenix is significantly less humid in the summer, warmer in the winter, and sunnier year-round than Dallas, not to mention the terrain of Phoenix is much more highly varied as well. Also, there's a much stronger emphasis on healthly, active lifestyles and outdoor recreation in Phoenix/Arizona than Dallas/Texas.

I've been here for 1 1/2 years and can tell you that it really changed my opinion of the place after actually living in DFW. And I disagree with you about the outdoor activities available. I live near Grapevine and there are lots of hiking, biking disc golf, jogging, camping and even sailing around here and in Lewisville. In fact enough so that I haven't even checked out the other area lakes and recreational parks yet because its kept me plenty busy. Its all about what you are into individually.
And yes, I've been pleny of times to Pheonix to visit relatives. I'm not saying that the desert does not have lots of beauty and scenery. But even with its desert and mountains, they still are nowhere near as impressive as what you find in California...or even Utah
Phoenix is just not as diverse or racially tolerant as Dallas.
Honestly I'd pick Dallas, it's weather is a lil better to be honest with summers a lil less hot..Phoenix is really super hot and far less trees since it's out in the desert area and I know the city has trees tho (some native) but most are transplanted.
I think both offers lots of good jobs tho and have very nice suburbs for sure!!
Phoenix is a lil crazy I've heard in terms of crime, I don't know I might be wrong tho, just from what I've seen in statistics before but this was a few years back.
