One thing that is absolutely clear to anyone who has spent time in BOTH CITIES, is that Baltimore and Richmond are very much alike. Whether or not one considers one as "more Southern" than the other--while being possibly true--the fact is that there is a list of similarities between Baltimore and Richmond, that go beyond thesesuperficial statistics some like to quote. Obviously, there are noticeable differences between the two as well, but for anybody to insist that they are not alike, I am immediately calling into question the areas you've been to, as well as how much time you"ve spent and how long you were in EITHER city...
Have to disagree here. How are Baltimore and Richmond alike from a cultural, linguistic, and demographic standpoint (ignoring African Americans). Baltimore may historically have a lot in common with Richmond, but from a modern standpoint, it just doesn't. Baltimore is a Northeastern city. Richmond is a Southern one.
How and why would you ignore the African Americans if they represent over half of both cities, that is actual very insulting ignoring the majorities of each city. But anyway both cities have around the same percentage of German ancestory with Richmond va having 11.4 and Baltimore having 18.4. Crime is also a similarity they both have been plagued crime for years even though Richmond is getting better. They both are pretty much segregated cities wheather it be race or class we're talking about and who said a norheast city could'nt have any similarities to a southern city?
Is Northern New Jersey weather closer to Ohio or Maryland?
Maryland still. However Northern NJ has still weather variations particularly during wintertime and overnight low temperatures. NW NJ receives slightly more snowfall and few degrees cooler evenings than NE NJ.

This is true, and the fact that both MD and NJ have coasts means cooler temperatures at the ocean and bay than inland. Ohio has a Great Lake but it's not the same as an ocean breeze. It's normal for it to be 10 degrees cooler at the coast with no humidity along the mid-Atlantic, night and daytime. Sometimes it's downright freezing on NJ beaches if wind is bad and the sun's in, meanwhile inland it's 85 and humid.
Maryland x 100,00,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000...
