You also left out the part that Wikipedia is very, very well moderated and extremely hard to deface any more than semi-major article for more than a handful of minutes (trust me, I have friends - no, not from Chicago - who have tried and got them reverted within 2 minutes). It's the obscure articles like a semi obscure band's page that you have to be more worried about on wikipedia.

I'm going to just assume the home of the first node of the internet is going to dismissed entirely for some reason.

There's been a lot of great things to come out of UCLA as well as USC, and Cal Tech (to name a few).

Can you? I've tried about 15 different combinations in google ranging from "Chicago was the original Hollywood to Chicago was the first Hollywood", and also tried using LA/Los Angeles instead of Hollywood to see if it yielded different results.

Nothing so far.

Yes, actually you can get the Encyclopedia of Chicago, which is printed by the University of Chicago press (please don't start with this "written with a Chicago bias" bull****. The University of Chicago is one of the top 5 or 10 universities in the world and one of the most respected in the world. It is not going to put out something on its press that is bull****ted). You can also go to the Chicago History Museum for a good lesson on this as well full of tons of proof that it was a major film hub back before Hollywood.

Perhaps "capital" was a little overboard, but it was on par with NYC in film in the early 20th century. Look up Essanay Studios for example.

You could say the same for Chicago, or NY(besides hip-hop). Most popular music came from the South.

There's also research facilities like the Jet Propulsion Lab and Mt. Wilson, where the existence of galaxies outside our own was confirmed. Not bad for the metro's relative youth.

Yes, but the JPL is actually in Pasadena and we are just dealing with city propers here. My great uncle was a researcher at the JPL. Nice place For that matter too, Cal Tech is located in Pasadena as well..

I'm not denying Chicago played a prominent role in the movie industry back then.

At least you realized you made a ridiculous comment by using "capital" and had an even more ridiculous response by invoking the University of Chicago encyclopedia that's probably been collecting dust since Hoover was in office.

You lose your cool extremely easily on a message board, stay in the midwest with that attitude.
