People don't know how to wear condoms and sex is viewed as a recreational activity nowadays that's all...
Sex filled media probably picked up around 1990-1993 and went full throttle in the late 90's.

Oh that and illegal immigrants (a lot become legal later) have been flying to this country and a large percentage of them have sex like rabbits.

Yep I was just explaining why the population boomed so much from 1990 to the present. Think about it...

Population growth from 1990-2012 has actually been tepid by historical standards, especially when you consider increases based on birth, rather than longer lifespans or immigration

You realize that birth rates dropped significantly during this period, right?

The reason the population grew in major metros is because 1. People are living longer, 2. More immigrants, 3. More people moving into metros from rural areas

Well, the Echo Boomers (children of Baby Boomers, Generation Y) were born during the early 1990s.

But otherwise, you're right. Mahatma X's post doesn't really add up.

Seeing these numbers give me a bit of nostalgia. I remember the old Atlanta back in the 90's as it was transitioning from a Southern city into the cosmopolitan metropolis it is today.

I remember when I would pass by the pop clock on Peachtree at the Darlington as a kid a see the population 2,9xx,xxx and then 3,xxx,xxx and before I entered into high school I remember the region cheered as the population soared past 4 million.

Yes, 2012 Atlanta is a much better city than the 1990 Atlanta but I miss the Atlanta (and its music/art/culture scene) of yesteryear

Live Births and Birth Rates, by Year | Infoplease.com

Birth rates are falling in reality. Maybe that's just because we use condoms better than our parents did, but I think we're also less sexually active than they were too.
