Hurricanes in the US have killed waaaaaaaaaay more people than the latest earthquakes in the US. Think hurricane Katrina which killed 1,000+ people in 2005, compared to the last deadly US quake which was in LA which killed like 60 people waay back in 94. Just being honest. I'd take the Earthquakes. And Haiti doesn't count, because it's the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, and NONE of the buildings are earthquake prone, NONE!!

You know when a hurricane is going to hit, but when it comes to earthquakes it can happen anytime.

First off Hurricanes their selves don't kill people. It's the effects from FLOODING. Katrina as a hurricane itself was nothing to scream about, the levees in new orleans were just weak.

That being said you have a chance to get out of a hurricanes way unlike earthquakes which are much more numerous than the hundreds of small earthquakes people don't know exist each day. Plus that place (California) is doomed for a big one.

Florida is due to sink also with the polar ice caps melting, sea levels rise, and there are places in the Everglades already sinking. If a Cat 7 hurricane hit SoFla today, you can't tell me there wouldn't be MASSIVE flooding problems. Remember Hurricane Andrew? Florida is just as screwed as California in the long run.

Another BIG difference is that people in Santa Monica feel comfortable in their own skin whereas Miami Beach and the people it draws are very fake and shallow.

Who wears stiletto heels on the beach for God's sake?

The sunsets are better in Samo as well

Once you tire of Sobe... that's it. Samo has Malibu , Venice and Ocean Park nearby

Easily LA.

Few metro areas on earth allow you the access to sunbathe on the beach and cool down on a mountaintop within the span of a few hours.

Yet hurricanes still manage to kill thousands of people.

Miami Beach has Coconut Grove, and Coral Gables nearby. Maybe they can't beat Venice, and Malibu, but they're still fun. And there are fake people everywhere, even Los Angeles.
