A few of them already do.
* 435 N Park is very close to being topped out and kind of plugs a hole. -->

* 111 W Wacker kind of extends the urban canyon along the river effect even more. -->

* River Point is being put in a part along the river where it was a big 1-2 blocks of real low rise. They have been building a 2 block long tunnel over a Metra (commuter rail) line the last few months. The top is going to be a park and these will also extend the riverwalk even more as they plan to have that around there too.
- Currently looks like this:

- Will look like this by the end:

* 150 N Riverside will be next to the above and will look like this -->

* Wolf Point has been owned by the Kennedys since the 1940s and was a huge parking lot. When all is said and done with, there's supposed to be a new 50 (building it now), 70, and 90 story buildings on the small section of land.
There's some other stuff on the horizon like a 31 story building in the West Loop that looks like it belongs more in Miami than Chicago and kind of extends/fills in the high rises west of the interstate. The Marriott Marquis is also going up near McCormick Place (along with another smaller tower). It will be the largest building by a ways in that area and will extend the skyline south even more. The building looks pretty cool too (

A few things that I didn't mention:
1) There is a $100 million project for the riverwalk that just started construction which extends it for 6 blocks and adds new stuff. A little more retail/commercial space on the river too.
City Gets $100M Loan to Finance Riverwalk Project | NBC Chicago
2) The city is taking bids and plans to light up part of the river with ambient style lighting. They want to have a huge videoboard type of thing there too but I'm not buying that part of it:

I just read a curbed comment from someone claiming to have made those renderings:
"I created these renderings for the design firm in charge and I just want to put it out there that we were being pushed to increase the intensity and contrast on these images to make the new elements stand out on the images. In reality, projection mapping on a large structure from across the river would appear much more subtle to the eye, they would only wish that it could appear that bright. Google or search YouTube for "3D projection mapping". A synthetic still image cannot do it justice. It is actually really cool and would not look like a " video wall ""
