The closest you are gonna get to Tel Aviv in the US in terms of architecture, scale and buzz is Miami Beach. Setting and climate are also very similar.

In terms of street level vibrancy the only US city that can compare with Tel Aviv is NYC. Tel Aviv is also denser than any US city besides NYC (it's at 20K/mile) and it feels incredibly structurally dense as well.

Even Miami Beach doesn't come close to the urban vibrancy or density of Tel Aviv, although I can see the Miami comparison because both cities have beaches, thriving nightlife, and intense humidity in the summer.

Much of Tel Aviv looks like this: https://www.google.com/maps/preview#...-R2w!2e0&fid=5

This one looks a lot like Santa Monica.

This one sort of looks like the view from Los Angeles' Union Station.

I agree that image one looks like San Francisco. In fact quite a few of them did with the blanket of mid-rises with high-rises poking out.

Yes Tel Aviv is dense overall but its density is very uniform. There are large stretches of Chicago and San Francisco, as well as Philadelphia and Boston, that are every bit as dense and vibrant (if not moreso) as central Tel Aviv.

Per the rules of the city vs. city forum, comparing North American cities to non-North American cities is not allowed. This thread is closed.
