Which Midwestern city is culturally, aesthetically, geographically, historically, climatically, economically, demographically, and politically most similar to Atlanta? If one doesn't have all the aspects, then which one comes the closest and for what reason in your opinion?
Here's the list of choices and only from these. Compare them beyond cities, the entire metropolitan areas, please. Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Saint Louis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Columbus, Indianapolis, and Omaha.
Economically Atlanta will be more in line with Chicago (even though Atlanta has nothing on Chicago)
Demographically I would say Atlanta is more like St Louis
Climatically Atlanta isn't like any of them. Midwest cities are hellish for the most part in the winter. Atlanta has cold enough winters but not that cold.
Politically well I would say it's more like St Louis. Both are liberal pockets in very conservative states.
Geographically: Atlanta is unique by itself geographically with its friggin ten million trees and hilly terrain in the northern region of the metro area towards the Appalachians
St.Louis if I have to pick one. They have been in the world stage for world fairs and expos in the past.Has a significant black population with its own history and culture.
Why am I not surprised that some very ignorant people would chose Detroit.Atlanta is nothing like Detroit.Detroit is over 80% black.Atlanta is less than 52% and dropping in the city.
Atlanta is economically rich and new development is all over the city in even Downtown.
Minneapolis I don't get either. Can someone please explain their reasoning?
Minneapolis. Indianapolis is no where near comparable to Atlanta.
Indy is comparable to Atlanta with regard to the clustering of its larger venues downtown and hosting big sporting events.
