Still just like every olympics (which is a different animal from the superbowl). Like, how many events at the London Olympics took place outside (or waayy outside) the city limits? The main stadium was in Stratford. A good chunk of NJ is within the NYC metropolitan area. Same thing.

I understand, and you're right. There are plenty of sports teams and other sports events that take place outside of city limits with the city getting credit. Many times, though, it's still within the same state. Not the case with NYC/NJ. NYC will get credit for things that aren't even in NY and that irks me. It's just a little pet peeve I have, not the end of the world, I just can't help but point it out when I notice it. Either way, I think it would be cool if the Olympics came to our area.

Ok yes but to be fair, London itself is like 1 square mile, so maybe not a perfect example.

Haha, well of course London is a lot more than Medieval London (the CoL), but the nomenclature is confusing. Feel free to pick any other Olympics as an example, that was just the most recent one. The point still stands.

I just don't think that the "different state" thing is especially meaningful in this situation. I totally respect the Jersey Pride, but it's like picking straws about the Statue of Liberty not reeeeallly being in New York City, while being a universally recognized symbol of the city.

I'm sure they'd work it out, especially for the Olympics. I think the Summer Olympics would do well there.
I think history has been unkind to Atlanta. I don't think it is as bad as conventional wisdom, but Atlanta was not considered a good Olympics.

The Atlanta Olympics weren't that bad like people made them out to be. I was 16 years old at that time and I remember being in Atlanta during those games.

Yeah for sure, it doesn't mean anything. There were events as far out of London as Scotland during the 2012 Olympics.

It may have not been bad but the only thing most people remember is the bombing.
