Columbus, Ohio is too small and podunk to be mentioned along with Indianapolis. Most people cant pinpoint Columbus, Ohio on a map. I'm not even sure Columbus, Ohio even exist. Columbus, Ohio is more similar to the podunk college town Evansville than the global metropolis called of Indianapolis.
But the answer is most certainly Columbus, Ohio (front runner). I have been to both extensively enough to notice the similarities. Even the circular highways that surround the city centers are almost identical.
The next two choices I think would be Jacksonville, Florida and maybe Charlotte, North Carolina.
I have heard Charlotte described as "Indianapolis with light rail and better weather" by someone from Charlotte.
I've never been to Charlotte, so who knows........

That person is right. While living in NC I've always seen Charlotte as being the Indianapolis of the south. We just don't have the busier airport, majestic BOFA type signature skyline, southern accent, warmer climate and that fancy light rail choo choo line. Oh, and some down home southern cookin like real authentic sweet tea (not Mickey Dees) and corn bread with the fried maters and boiled peanuts for desert. The only thing Charlotte lacks is the street level vibrant downtown Indy has. It's getting much better though. Charlotte has caught mayor Ballard's attention about the lightrail system. He is all for it but the state is getting in the way of it. He may be conservative but is pro rail transit big time.
Seems like Kansas City is a glaring omission so far.
Sort of minus the historic Country Club Plaza but closer than say St Louis.
