Again, "most similar" is not the same as "similar".

That analogy makes no sense. Cheese and yogurt are two different things with different purposes. Cities are still cities, no matter how different they are from each other. Like I said, people are intentionally making it more complicated than it needs to be.
If we did that the cities would get like 1-5 points out of 100 in comparison Even cities like Chicago Boston or Philly are basically 1/5th to a 1/10th of stuff in NYC on stuff to do/scale/urban form/highrises almost anything you can think of.

Most like NYC on a scale of 100

Dallas 4
Houston 4
Phoenix 1
Austin 2
Atlanta 3
Orlando 1
Denver 2
San Antonio 3
Seattle 5

Even somewhere like London or Paris might only get 80 points of "matching up"

Well just as long as you're not comparing those other cities to being Geno Smith...

Also, if New York is Aaron Rodgers than does that make Philadelphia Matt Flynn? (Just kidding, Philly )

Paris
NYC
Hong Kong
Seoul
London
Tokyo
Shanghai
Sao Paolo
Moscow
Osaka

?

I'm thinking it might be Seoul, they both have different variations of BBQ, a Korean vs Texan showdown.

I can list a million and one reasons of how Houston and Phoenix are nothing alike and "don't deserve" to be compared to each other, but it means nothing because they can still be compared, whether I like it or not.

You can't honestly say that a city like Atlanta doesn't share more characteristics with New York than a city like Austin. It's as simple as that. You vote for the city that you perceive to have more in common with NY than the others on the list. It's not rocket science.

It's utterly sad that I'm repeatedly having to explain the difference between "similar" and "most similar" to a bunch of adults. But like every other City Data thread, none of you are able to put your biases (or lack of perception) aside in order to make an objective call.

It's not a "dumb" question just because you think none of these cities deserve to be compared to New York.
I comprehend. I'm just not going to waste my time thinking about an answer that still won't be even close to what NYC is like.

It's Sao Paulo, both are named after saints and were colonized by the Iberian nations...
