Well, that is probably one of the least interesting things in NYC. Once you get over the shock of that many people in one place it's pretty dull. But the same could be said for Hollywood / Highland, couldn't it?

Leonardo DiCaprio, like so many ultra-rich entertainment biz folk, lives in the wrong Los Angeles. There is an exciting and only-here feeling that Los Angeles also exudes, but it's tough to get that feeling from your Bentley - it's better experienced at places like the corners of Santa Monica and Vermont, Wilshire and Alvarado, Sunset and Glendale.

Stand on a nyc corner all day? Alot of those midtown blocks get very quiet after work hours. Same goes for the wall street area.

No, I'm sure he still keeps a home in LA but he has been in NYC for a while now.

He actually just bought a newer $15MM apt in NYC:

No one cares about anecdotes. These are about aggregates. In aggregate, obviously Times Square is an enormous tourist destination.

Just because someone on C-D says "I went to Venice and was bored" doesn't mean Venice isn't a major tourist destination.

And Brooklyn is completely different from Midtown, so it's quite possible that someone who doesn't like Midtown may like Brooklyn, or vice-versa.

I found the random streets in Brooklyn to be pretty interesting when I was in NYC - similar to how I find Santa Monica Blvd in East Hollywood to be a pretty interesting street scene. If you were going to spend a day wandering around the city, then NYC clearly is better than Los Angeles. However I think Leo has it all wrong (though he is a pretty legit Los Angeles native, went to John Marshall High), perhaps he should give me a ring and I'll show him around the city that I see.

That being said this NYC chest puffing is obnoxious at best, and pathetic at worst. You're city is amazing, why do you feel the need to put Los Angeles down? Are you hearing footsteps? We are still a long way behind you, don't worry.

Midtown gets "very quiet"? Midtown is probably busier than any place in North America after-hours.

The Wall Street area isn't that quiet after hours either nowadays, but Midtown was never, ever a quiet place at night. Times Square, Theater District, Rock Center, Columbus Circle, and all the hotels and restaurants have always kept the area busy at night.

I can say with confidence, that unless this was in the middle of Hurricane Sandy, that you're lying.

50th Street has subway entrances, major hotels, theaters, lots of restaurants and the like. These things obviously generate activity.

There's no way in hell someone walking down 50th Street at 8 PM, any day of the week, any time of the year, will not see many other human beings walking around.
