Muffalettas should have more votes--my favorite variation on the classic Italian coldcut sandwich. Also a good po' boy whether with debris, fried oysters, bbq shrimp or so on, is a thing of beauty. And in part I love the classic New Orleans sandwiches because the places that make the best ones always have the right bread--that's the key to both of those.
Is that broccoli and/or asparagus? If yes, **** that sammich!
I take it you're not Italian. It's broccoli rabe-and it's delicious.
And yes, I'd have to agree roast pork sandwich from Philly with provolone and broccoli rabe is the best regional sandwich in The US-John's Roast Pork is my favorite. I haven't tried a diavlo yet.
Why is a Cheese Steak from Philly with that disgusting spray cheese more famous than a steak and cheese sandwich from any other city that actually uses real cheese?
There isn't a cheesesteak place in Philly that doesn't offer American or Provolone-still the most popular options.
I am most familiar with the Phili cheesesteak, but there are other items on this poll list that I wouldn't mind having to eat as well, ie pulled pit bar b que beef or pork and others, depends on what the ingredients are. Have to admit "The Gerber" is questionable. I may have to Google that, or do I want to... ?
I'm not surprised at all that Philly is leading the poll. I love a good Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, though these comments have really piqued my interest in this Pork and Broccoli Rabe Sandwich.
...I wish it were more accessible nationally like its counterpart.
